Boardmeeting Rubikon Centrum Servis June 14th; discussions in the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Labour/Social Affairs

by Bjarke Ammann

Dagmar Doubravova, President of Rubikon Centrum Servis RCS, welcomed  the boardmembers in the new community centre "Kotlaska". This is to the inhabitants of Prague 8 and offers many activities such as urban gardening. The centre is developed and operated by Rubikon Centrum, the parent company of Rubikon Centrum Servis.

Rubikon Centrum Servis Managing Director Jiri Bouska informed about the first 5 months of the current year. The various business segments developed differently. The workshop in the prison in Vinarice, where the capacities could be fully utilized, was a particular pleasure. Work was resumed in Uvaly, a small town near Prague, after the maire awarded RCS another follow-up contract for the maintenance of roads and gardens.

Jiri Bouska then referred to the cooperation with PPL - a lower level contractor of DHL - where business is starting very well and where Jiri Bouska expects great growth. The delivery of parcels for the mail order business is booming and allows cost-covering prices. This prompted boardmembers to approve the expansion of this business area and to give green light to purchase new vehicles.

The examination of the possibilities of using e-cargo bikes suggested by VEBO members at the last shareholders' meeting has so far brought no concrete findings requiring decisions. Jiri Bouska was instructed to pursue the issue further and present a report at the November 2018 boardmeeting.

Talks with high-ranking representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Labour/Social Affairs

Vice Minister of Justice Vladimir Zimmel received on June 14th Dagmar Doubravova (RC), Manfred Flühmann and Peter Gründler (VEBO) with the aim to discuss the prospects for cooperation. The background to this meetin was that Switzerland could make a new contribution to cohesion efforts within the EU, provided that political decisions are taken accordingly.

The representatives of RC and VEBO emphasized their willingness to proactively seek fields for projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice. This should give the three actors an advantage when Czech-Swiss cooperation will be relaunched.

It was agreed that the Ministery of Justice would identify problem areas by the next meeting in November, which could at best be tackled jointly. This within the framework of the Strategy for Criminal Policy 2025 in the Czech Republic. RC and VEBO will then use their know-how and network to find organisations and government agencies in Switzerland that are interested in cooperation and assistance.

On June 15th, Dagmar Doubravova, Manfred Flühmann and Peter Gründler visited the "Fond dalsiho vzdelavani", an autonomous department of the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. They were received by Mgr Jitka Matouskova, ,head of social and Family Policy at FDV. VEBO and RC raised the same issues as at the Ministery of Justice. The interest of the FDV was very high and the two sides agreed to prepare the question of cooperation and possible project fields in such a way that the next steps can be discussed also in November.
