Romania: Board-Meeting FPSC
by Bjarke Ammann
On June 26th the Board of FPSC met in Bucharest. The main topic was the question of sustainability of the project, which is heavily endangered by the actual law.
Alin Paun, the CEO of FPSC, suggested the acquisition of an small truck (3,5 t) which will enable FPSC to enlarge the collection of WEEE on its own. Alin predicted that gathering electronic waste will allow FPSC to reach approx. 25 tons per month in due time. This being the financial break-even-point would dramatically increase the probability of sustainablity.
VEBO has agreed to give a loan of CHF 15’000 to FPSC enabling it to buy the truck and test the proposal.
As representatives of VEBO Thomas Wüthrich and Peter Gründler had some talks with the director of one of the biggest recyclers of Romania who is active in Brasov and Bucharest. He showed some willingness and interest to integrate the CS-workshops of FPSC in his company.
The Board asked Ioan Durnescu, president of FPSC, and Alin to contact the director with the aim to evaluate his proposal and to find out how it could be realised.
